In addition to serving the rural blind in Karnataka, This facility was intended to be the launching pad for Vision 2020/20. It is the first super speciality eye care training research center in addition to providing plethora of eye care services. It was inaugurated in March 2009 and in a short span, it is on it’s way to reach self sufficiency because of the paying patients it is able to attract. It has been the receipeint of many awards like “Namma Bengaluru” for providing the best community eye program.
