The magic of light will soon touch the poor blind of Madhya Pradesh. Sankara Eye Hospital is coming to Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

Madhya Pradesh, the central state of India, is the 6th largest state in the country and is home to 75+ million people. Madhya Pradesh - or M.P. for short - has a rich history and vibrant culture. Despite of rapid urbanization of the state still about 60% of the population lives in rural parts of the state. M.P. is placed #28 in the list of 33 states with its per capita income 30% less than national average, which indicates that treatment for curable blindness is out of reach for most. To address this grave issue and bring hope to millions of lives, Sankara Eye Foundation is starting construction of a hospital in Indore - the largest city in MP - in spring of 2016. This hospital is expected to touch 13 million lives once being fully operational.

Just like all SEF hospitals, Indore hospital will be equipped with best-in-class services to provide both paid and community care. A self-sustainable hospital is one of the core features of every SEF hospital. This hospital trains and provides opportunities to under-privileged in the community.

A self-sustaining charitable eye hospital in Indore would bring hope to millions of lives. It takes about 18 months to get the hospital constructed and fully operationalized. Sankara had already acquired the land to build the hospital. To get the construction underway and completed, it takes about $5 million. This is where you come in.
