Sankara Eye Hospital, Krishnankovil
Several tribal groups inhabit the Nilgiris mountain range. These group are not only deprived of modern amenities but also of basic health care facilities. That population is part of what the hospital in KrishnanKoil is serving.
The Sankara Rural Eye Hospital is located near the temple town of Srivilliputhur around 70 kilometres south of Madurai. Our state-of-the-art facility is oriented toward providing patient-friendly care. Our trained and service oriented physicians possess the clinical and surgical expertise to provide medical and surgical care for all ophthalmic conditions and diseases.
This institution has been established to provide quality eye care to the Southern Tamilnadu. It was inaugurated on February 4th 2004 by Sri. VijayKumar IAS, Collector of Ramanathapuram District and Sri Mohamed Aslam IAS, Collector of Virudhunagar District.
The institute is operating from the renovated hospital campus handed over to the trust by Dr Vivekananda Raja and Family. The hospital activities are being supported by philanthropists - Mr Dasi Bhudrani, international service organisations -Sight Savers International and the National Programme for Control of Blindness.
After coming into the Sankara family, the hospital has been renovated, modernized and set for the standard sankara processes, including self-sufficiency.
