Walking into the hospital in Narsingi, I couldn’t believe my eyes—a fully functional 250-bed super-specialty eye hospital providing free treatment to the needy right in the heart of our city! I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the incredible donors and volunteers whose hard work made this hospital a reality.
The reception area was spotless and welcoming, and I was greeted with warmth by the receptionist, who connected us with Unit Head, Viswamohan Ji. His kindness set the tone for our visit as he graciously offered us a tour of the hospital. Meeting dedicated staff members like Dr. Sriram Simakurthy, Dr. Sirisha Polkampally, and Dr. Palak Maqwana was a privilege. They took the time to explain complex cases, and I could see the genuine care they had for their patients. Their passion and dedication were palpable, leaving me inspired and deeply moved.
One delightful surprise was the hospital canteen, where the filter coffee was exceptional—just what we needed to recharge.
Reflecting on my experience at Sankara Eye Foundation, I realized this visit wasn’t just about seeing a hospital; it was about understanding the profound impact such institutions have on our community. Volunteering with organizations like SEF, USA allows us to not only help transform the lives of countless patients but also enrich our own. I learned the importance of compassion, the strength of teamwork, and the joy of contributing to something greater than myself. Each moment spent there deepened my connection to my community and filled me with hope for the future. Together, we can truly change lives—one surgery at a time.
