Built over 6.1 acres of land, the hospital is a 225-bed facility. SEH Krishnancoil also serves the tribal population in the Nilgiris mountain range. The hospital is located near the temple town of Srivilliputhur, around 70 kilometers south of Madurai, and is the only 24/7 Emergency service for eye care in the region. The hospital campus was donated by Dr. Vivekananda Raja and family, and receives support from philanthropists such as Mr. Dasi Bhudrani, Sight Savers International, and the National Programme for Control of Blindness.

SEH Krishnankoil is a Pre-NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers) accredited hospital.
