“They say when you are down, lift someone”, says Sonal Solanki who has been a volunteer with SEF, USA since 2005. After suffering a devastating personal loss in 2004, Sonal turned to SEF, USA to find a meaningful way forward. An inspirational meeting with Murali Krishnamurthy and his wife, Kala Murali, where she learned about SEF, USA’s work, helped Sonal find her cause.

Sonal began volunteering with the Focus Gujarat team to raise funds for the Anand Hospital project. Meeting other volunteers, Sonal was amazed by their enthusiasm and dedication. “Little did I know then that this work would enrich my own life and bring so much happiness to me. What I have received from Sankara is way more than what I might have given back”, Sonal says.

When You Are Down, Lift Someone Up!

Sonal leads SEF, USA’s social media marketing strategies for all channels, working tirelessly to spread awareness about the cause. For her work with SEF, USA, she also received the President’s Volunteer Service Award signed by President George W. Bush in 2008.

In her career outside SEF, USA, Sonal is a finance professional based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I will continue to collaborate with the team to drive Vision 2030 towards reality.
